Miata Service Other Than Dealer

I bought a 99 Miata a while back. Love the car and it is fun to drive.
I am looking for a place to have service done, other than a
dealership. Currently, I am needing a new clutch installed. Just
wondered if I could get some recommendations.

Please either reply to this post or email me at j.pitcock@insightbb.com

Got Chips? Get Dr Colorchip

We all know the frustrating sound of a rock or other foreign object striking our car!  Other than keeping a “garage queen” I don’t know how to avoid the pain.  But I have found a way to lessen the long term effect.

ZOOM ZOOM MAG

I know I may be the last one in the club to see it however, I just went online to zoomzoommag.com and found a neat newsreel type article on Miatas at Moab. You might want to check it out.

New MP-62 Supercharger

Supercharger

Well Folks, I broke down and bought a supercharger of my own.

It’s an MP-62 and mounted on the “cold air” side of the engine compartment.  In fact it bolts up to the head and replaces the stock intake manifold.

This kit is from “FAST FORWARD SUPERCHARGERS” and I think it is very comprehensive and complete.  Everything you might need including the two extra fuel injectors and a 3/8″ ratchet with a retracting and extending handle is included.  Why do you need that ratchet?  Try to tighten a couple of bolts without it!

I have had my supercharger installed for just over a month or in this case about 2,000 miles.  Any problems?  Only one, on cold start up it tends to stall out if you don’t feather the throttle a little.  That is just an issue of getting the “power cards” set correctly for more enrichment on start.  I haven’t been bothered enough by it to even fool with that yet.

Do I love it? YES!!  I feel it does all I hoped and more.  No lag from low RPM, no need to downshift nearly as often, and a 55 or 60 to 80 acceleration that will shock you.

Gas mileage?  Mileage seems about the same so far as long as I can resist pushing the throttle down enough to make the supercharger sing.  for normal driving, other than the cold start issue, you’d swear it was still totally stock.

Check Out classicmotorsports.net

A friend turned me on to a magazine and web site I didn’t know about.  CLASSIC MOTORSPORTS MAGAZINE also has a great site classicmotorsports.net which I find very interesting and easy to navigate.

Regardles of the brand of car you drive, I am convinced there is an entire section devoted to your brand.  There are search engines that look for brands, clubs, events, and about anything else you can think of.  Plus lots of apps. to comment, post, show your car, talk about an event, and who knows what all else. This can also be accessed by location and time.

An included event calender is available where events can be posted and shown, again by date, state, and brand.  Try classicmotorsports.net I think you’ll find it handy.
