Pat’s Steak House, Louisville

PAT’S STEAK HOUSE on US 42 (also sometimes called Brownsboro Road) just past the Clifton neighborhood is what many call the best steakhouse in Jefferson County. I think that’s an accurate statement.

Full bar, great old rustic atmosphere (for my favorite room, ask for the main room when you make reservations), friendly attentive staff, & GREAT FOOD. They don’t just do good beef either. Molly says the fried chicken livers are they best she’s ever tried & I am fond of the frog legs and the breaded veal cutlet as well.

However, if you are into steak, Pat’s is certainly top drawer.  They age their own meat & it is always prepared exactly to order.   One caveat, unless you have a much larger appetite than Molly or Me, go for the “Lady’s” size whenever possible.  I just can’t eat 28oz. of T-bone anymore!

All dinner entrees come with bread, a salad, & two sides.  I love their lima beans and their hash browns.  Also try their home-made blue cheese dressing.  Huge chunks of cheese floating in a tart creamy sauce!  It ain’t cheap here, but you certainly will go away thinking you got your money’s worth.

THEY DON’T TAKE PLASTIC, however there is an ATM inside & we usually pay with personal checks.

Note:  For the last several years Pat’s has been a “dinner only” restaurant.  They open 6 days a week at 4:30 P.M.  Pat’s is closed on Sunday.

I forgot to mention one of the advantages/disadvantages of PAT’S. They take reservations even for one or two. This means you don’t have the long wait with a beeper. It also means that if you want to eat there Thursday through Saturday you probably should make reservastions!
